  1. - Oliver Kastl of Elaborate Bytes has now released a4000_atapi.device 
  2.   version 8.2. This device allows you to use an ATAPI CD-ROM drive with
  3.   the A4000 or A4000T embedded IDE controller. A4000 users can use the very
  4.   popular and cheap CD-Roms for PCs without any major disadvantages against
  5.   SCSI CD-Rom drives. The major advantage for A4000 users without a SCSI 
  6.   controller is, that they don't have to buy one. The major advantage for
  7.   A4000 users with a SCSI controller is, that they have an unused IDE port
  8.   in their machine anyway and SCSI CD-Roms are usually more expensive.
  9.   The device maps SCSI-II commands to ATAPI packets using the standard 
  10.   Commodore HD_SCSICMD interface, so any "CD-Rom specific" programs 
  11.   (Multisession Filsystems, Audio Players and Photo-CD readers) designed 
  12.   for SCSI-II CD-Roms should work.
  13.   This has been tested with CacheCDFS, PlayCD, CD32-Emulator and PhotoWorX.
  14.   The device is fully interrupt driven and will use only a small amount of
  15.   CPU time for the transfer. A demo version is uploaded to AmiNet.
  16.   The new version 8.2 features:
  17.  
  18.   - Intermediate fixes - mainly to the Chinon OEM version
  19.   - Revised to fully comply with ATAPI 1.2 specs. All ATAPI devices which
  20.     comply with Atapi 1.2 should work, including non CD-Roms (e.g. Tape
  21.     devices). Removed Elitegroup Vertos from compatibility list - this 
  22.     one doesn't comply with ATAPI specs 1.2.
  23.   - Merged a4000_atapi and a1200_atapi to a single atapi.device Checking,
  24.     which devices are connected to the IDE port changed again -this should
  25.     fix the reported problems of "FindCD" hangs.
  26.   - Mitsumi FX-300 and old FX-400 apparently hangs. This is a bug in the
  27.     Mitsumi firmware. Added a workaround for this. CD-Rom can be reset on
  28.     Open, if the device is opened with device flags 1.
  29.   - Emulates SCSI 6 byte Mode Sense / Mode Select. This is important for
  30.     some SCSI Audio players and Shapeshifter to work properly.
